What DNS does

DNS maps human-readable hostnames to IP addresses and mail routes. Changes can take time to propagate worldwide.

Common record types

Use A or AAAA for your site’s server address, CNAME to alias one name to another, and MX for mail delivery priority. Your host or email provider will supply the exact values.
